Rag day is a day during orientation when the halls and faculties showcase a float and a rag dance which they prepared. Last year, rag day was held at the Padang while this year it is held at the NUS Sports and Recreational Club (SRC).
In Raffles Hall, the construction of float is overseen by a group of talented and passionate engineers and designers. However, participation in the construction is not restrictive, in that hall residents may still contribute without prior experience. Therefore, before and during the hall orientation, freshmen are encouraged to participate in the cladding of the float.
Through that, float becomes an avenue for the freshmen to experience the vibrancy of the hall for themselves and also to build lasting bonds with each other. In addition to that, the freshmen get a chance to acquire hands-on skills and to display their creativity and craftmanship. By being part of float, freshmen significantly determine the success and magnificence of the final product. Furthermore, the freshmen may even discover an innate desire or extreme talent in engineering or designing structures of such scale.
But of course, like all other hall activities, more means merrier, and group fun in float explodes the fun-scale! And you know what? Our floaters are no different from all you fun-loving people. They love to work and play and talk and laugh all at the same time! LOL. If the float experience for a freshman must be summed up in one sentence, it would sound like this:
"It is indeed one of the MOST fulfilling activity to fill the free time between checking-in and the start of orientation."
So if by any chance:
1. You are a freshmen about to check-in at Raffles Hall, or
2. You are immensely interested in the building of float, or
3. You are looking for a good cause to commit your time to before orientation starts, or

We don't just want you, we REALLY REALLY want you, and ALL your best friends too!
