The JCRC is the executive committee of the hall. It lays down the vision for Raffles Hall, and provides the strategic planning and oversight for the rest of the activities in hall.
Led by a President and Vice-President, they are assisted by a Honourary General Secretary, as well as 6 portfolio-holding secretaries: Social, Culture, Sports, Media, Welfare and Finance, each in charge of the committees in his / her purview.
Board of Photographers
This committee is in charge of the photographic documentation of the hall's people and events. Their mission: To capture raw truth, uncut, uncondensed and uncompromised via lens and film, and to share within a single image a thousand words where none would suffice.
Computer Committee
RH Computer Committee, also known as CompComm, maintains the RH website and RH server. On top of that, CompComm also provides hardware/computing troubleshooting services for the residents and IT support for the administrative system.
Phoenix Press
Phoenix Press is a publication body that strives to keep the residents informed and entertained through various newsletters and publications on a regular basis. It also produces the eagerly anticipated annual publication, the Phoenix, which puts the year in review with a variety of photos, interviews and articles that form the major highlights of the year.
Technical Team (Tech)
RH Technical Team provides technical support in terms of lighting and sound equipment management for hall events and functions. They also conduct tech classes for their own members.
Video Committee
The Video Committee documents hall events and functions in the form of video productions. The members are engaged in basic tasks such as video recording and more advanced tasks such as video editing and equipment set-up for filming.
Arts and Graphics Committee
This committee is in charge of providing quality designing and publicity services to the other various committees in the hall. They are responsible to improve the general aesthetics of Raffles Hall.
Alumni Affairs Committee
The Alumni Affairs Committee is charged with the task of creating a bridge between current residents and ex-residents. The committee aims to strengthen this relationship between hall residents and alumni by hosting the fiesta-esque Alumni Day, the web letter and a series of talks.
Block Committees (Blk 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6)
The individual blocks have their respective block committees and are all part of the hall Block Committee. The committee looks after the welfare of residents from their respective blocks and organizes social events for both the block and hall to promote interaction within and between blocks. The Block Committee will always be engaged in creating a vibrant and fun filled environment for the hall.
Business Committee
The RH Business Committee is a top notch marketing wing of Raffles Hall. Its team consists of a team of bold, innovative Rafflesians who are continuously inventing and reinventing new ideas to help raise funds for the hall. Members have the opportunity to learn business skills and liaise closely with our external sponsors.
Concert Committee
The Concert Committee is the team in charge of putting up the annual hall production. It is their pride and joy that the entire production is original and made from scratch, from the script and music compositions right up to the costumes and sets. The entire concert is made successful with the teamwork of the Concert Central Committee and its members which make up the concert committee.
Culture Committee
The Culture Committee assists in managing the many cultural groups within the hall. They also organize cultural showcases e.g. Rhazzmatazz to help provide cultural groups with a platform for interaction and in general aim to improve the cultural aspects of the hall.
Dinner and Dance (DnD)
The Dinner and Dance committee is in charge of organising RH's Convocation Dinner and 50th Anniversary Dinner & Dance, the highlight ballroom event of the year. This committee oversees the entire preparation process of the event, from its conceptualization phase 'til the very day of its grand opening.
Float Team
RH's Float Team consists of float designers, engineers and dance choreographers, among other posts. The members work during the year designing, sourcing for materials and assembling everything together to produce the float for Rag Day - the Chingay of NUS.
Orientation Marketing Committee
The Orientation Marketing Committee consists of a group of resourceful individuals with a flair for marketing and merchandising ideas. Members shoulder the challenging responsibility of locating funding for The Raffles Experience - RH's freshmen orientation camp.
Raffles Hall Orientation Committee (RHOC)
The Orientation Committee with the help of other committees and seniors make The Raffles Experience a success year after year, introducing Rafflesians to an experience like never before; a special little something that makes their stay everyday an unforgettable one.
The Secretariat
The Secretariat serves as a secretarial function for the JCRC and they are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. They handle most of the administrative matters e.g. issuance of notices by the JCRC and entering the points for all residents. This committee is in charge of the store room and archive room of Raffles Hall. It keeps records of all past year hall photographs and other publications related to various events that occur in the hall.
Sports Management Committee (SMC)
The Sports Management Committee manages all the sports teams of the hall. It also organizes the annual Inter Block Games (IBG) and the NTU Hall 11 friendly games. SMC also forms part of the organizing committee for the annual Inter Hall Games (IHG), providing publicity and personnel.
Welfare Committee
The Welfare Committee aims to look after the welfare of hall residents and promote recreational games for examples tea time board games services and night cycling. They provide first-aid services to the hall. In addition to that, the committee also maintains the Raffles Hall upper, piano, lower lounge and gym, thus helping Rafflesians stay comfortably in tip-top shape.
The Rugged Hallways
A group of highly talented and enthusiastic individuals, united by their love for music, make up The Rugged Hallways. Vastly experienced and well-exposed within and without the NUS campus and constantly participating in external band competitions, The Rugged Hallways is a celebration of music as much as it is a celebration of youthful talent.
RH Chamber Music Ensemble
Our well celebrated and much vaunted Chamber Music Ensemble is an assembly of residents adept in such varied instruments as the piano, violin, flute, harmonica, cello and saxophone. Capable of adapting and performing famous orchestral pieces or its own compositions, this enigmatic group's repertoire ranges from pop to jazz and classical.
RH Choir
The RH Choir is an assembly of hopeful vocalists that graciously welcomes individuals of all levels of ability. In addition, the choir holds workshops on basic music theory and seeks advice from prominent figures in the alumni, as well as other professionals, on ways to improve themselves as a vocal group. The group prides itself on its entrancing, flawlessly harmonized acapella performances.
RH Dance
Raffles Dance is made up of a group of vividly artistic and dedicated dancers. The dancers are adept choreographers and all dancers are choreographed by in-house talents. The group's array of performances cover various genres of dance, including funk, contemporary Chinese dance, ballet, modern jazz and hip-hop. Raffles Dance is also a regular entry at "Funkamania", an inter-tertiary-level education institution dance competition.
These teams will train throughout the year in the hopes of bringing back a medal during the Inter-Hall Games (IHG). It is during the Inter-Hall Games when we will meet the other sports teams from the 5 other hall with the aim of being overall champions. Our hall has 29 Sports teams which are as follows:
